Introduction to QuEChERS Technology

Hawach will introduce you to the technical background of the QuEChERS method.

The initial step of QuEChERS is to perform a single-phase extraction of 10 g or 15 g of the sample using acetonitrile, where the amount of acetonitrile in 1 mL of acetonitrile per gram of sample. Excess salt and buffer are then added to the extract to form a liquid-liquid partition. After centrifuging the above extract, an acetonitrile layer containing the analyte of interest was collected. The acetonitrile extract can then be combined with anhydrous MgSO4, primary amine/secondary amine (PSA) adsorbent by a d-SPE step to purify the sample matrix and remove excess water. The final extract can be analyzed directly by GC-MS or LC-MS/MS after simple dilution.

D-SPE Kits contain a convenient package of centrifuge tubes and aluminum foil sealed pouches with pre-weighed sorbents and buffers for the method specified by AOAC (2007.01) and EN( 15662).
